I can’t believe that it is time for our annual Hallween Party again!  Wow!  Seems like just yesterday the showroom was filled with gangsters and flappers from the 1920′s! Franklin Sussex Auto Mall is doing it again! Last years festival was such a hit, we are doing it bigger and better! We are proudly sponsoring, “Rock, Ribs and Ridges” on June 11th and 12th at The Hidden Valley Club in picturesque Vernon, NJ.  This festival is a two-day celebration of great southern rock music, finger-lickin’ BBQ food and tons of fun.  With an amazing music lineup featuring 38 Special, The Marshall Tucker Band, Blackberry Smoke, Outlaws, Citizens Band Radio, Southern Fury Band, Kilby Taylor, Southern Justice and CC Coletti, this event will be a hit for any classic rock fan…with an appetite.  While you are enjoying the music, we invite you to dine on some of the best BBQ ribs in the Northeast.  The Ribfest Cookoff includes 4 “Ribbers” that participate in the weekend long competition.  They are asked to put forth their signature recipes for a chance to win titles of BEST RIBS or BEST SAUCE along with huge cash prizes.  I’m talkin’ about World Famous Ribs here…I’m talkin’ Three Men and a Baby Back who start their season in Litttle Rock, Arkansas at the USA BBQ Championship..who last year won 1st place brisket at the NY State Championship..who won 3rd place chicken, 1st place brisket and 1st place People’s Choice Award for clam chowder in Norwalk, CT, AND Best Ribs from last years Rock, Ribs and Ridges Festival.  I’m talkin’ about Good Smoke who formed in the depths of competition barbecue, competing since 2006 and racking up (pun intended) two People’s Choice rib championships, and last year winning 2nd place in the Empire State Barbecue Championship and 3rd in the New England Barbecue Society claiming Team of the Year.  In addition, they brought home 2 grilling Grand Championships as well as multiple 1st place BBQ category wins.  I’m talkin’ about Texas Smoke BBQ…4 time “Best Ribs”, Champion of the Grill, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010; 2009 Grand Champion, and selected by the Munchmobile as one of the Best of 2010 Restaurants. I’m talkin’ about our very own, “Local Smoker” Eric Fiqueroa of the Double S Diner who traveled the country racing cars..and sampling the BBQ flavors of Memphis, Kansas City, Florida, Out West, and the Carolina’s along the way. WANTED: HUNGRY FIREFIGHTERS!  Win $500 for your fire department at the Franklin Sussex Auto Mall’s 1st Annual Rib Eating Contest!  On Saturday, May 14, 2011, at 1pm, sixteen firefighters will battle to see who can eat a full rack of ribs the fastest. Congratulations, Michelle LiTrenta of Wantage, NJ!  Michelle had the closest guess in our Teddy Bear Challange at the March for Babies event.  She won a 32″ Sony Bravia HD TV! 

Thank you to all who supported us through their business and donations last month.  Franklin Sussex Auto Mall raised over $5,000 for the March of Dimes!

For the month of April, Franklin Sussex Auto Mall has turned purple!   Purple signage, purple balloons, purple shirts…all for an amazing reason.  We are participating in the March for Babies this year to help bring awareness and support to the families of these little ones in our community. We want to give hope to those born too soon, or too sick.   The money we raise will support the March of Dimes programs right here in Sussex County.  These programs help to educate mothers, assist them in having healthy, full-term pregnancies, and fund research to find answers to the serious problems that threaten our babies, like premature birth.  Premature birth affects more than a half a million newborns in our country each year…making it the #1 cause of newborn death.  In addition, more than 120,000 babies are born with serious birth defects.  That’s why Team FSAM is walking together…to help give every baby a healthy start.

Franklin Sussex Auto Mall will donate $50 from every vehicle sale toward our goal of $5,000.  Our Team Captain, Kelly Cart, is also collecting donations of $1 or more at the Welcome Center in the showroom, and through our team page:  www.marchforbabies.org/team/t1511073  Please visit us in person, or online, with a donation to help us reach our goal.  Polio was almost completely eradicated by donations of a dime per family….imagine what a dollar per family could do! 

Our event this year will take place on April 30th, at the New Jersey State Fairgrounds, in Augusta.  We gather at 8am for breakfast refreshments, warm ups, music and pep talk…than the 3 mile walk kicks off at 9am.  When you are finished, please stay for a while, and enjoy all the free vendor booths!  That brings me to the TEDDY BEAR CHALLENGE!  At the Franklin Sussex Auto Mall table there will be a beautiful 2010 Furious Fuchsia Challenger R/T filled with stuffed animals.  Any one who attends the event is eligible to guess how many stuffed animals are in the car.  The winner gets a Sony Bravia 31.5″ flat screen LCD HD TV!  And since all the funds raised are for our local area, the stuffed animals will be delivered to children in Haiti affected by the earthquake of 2010, which claimed the lives of over 315,000 people.

Join us at the New Jersey State Fairgrounds on Saturday, April 16th from 8am to 6pm, and Sunday, April 17th from 8am to 3pm, for the 10th Annual Military Vehicle Show and Swap Meet.  The Military Transport Association, Inc. is more than just a car club.  For more than 35 years, it has been dedicated to the care and preservation of vehicles which are the symbol of the soldiers who served with them.   This year, Jeep celebrates a milestone anniversary ….”A Salute to 70 Years of Freedom!”   At this event, you can learn about the history of military vehicles and transportation of men and supplies.  You can see how the vehicles are outfitted to fight and survive a battle.  Learn about the hobby of preserving these magnificently designed vehicles, and the gear that they employ in their mission.   You can buy militaria, military related articles and other interesting items that vendors have for sale on the more than 200 vendor spaces.  One of those spaces will be us!  Stop by the Franklin Sussex Auto Mall tent, and check out the new 2011 Jeep line…because Jeep doesn’t just make SUV’s…they make history.
